Biogas Upgrading

Upgrading and cleaning is necessary for biogas entering the public grid in order to reach certain quality requirements. The correct methane content and low impurities levels have to be fulfilled befor biogas is going to the public grid or gets converted into CNG .

Measures have to be taken to upgrade the methane content and purify the initial biogas.

Up-grading biogas is a process involving multiple steps. At first all liquid and solid impurities are taken out. At the same time the gas is dried. Desulfurization and increasing the methane content form the next step.

There are two methane treatment processes which became most widely accepted: Pressure swing adsorption and water-wash gas scrubber technology.
