Besides power production or further biogas up-grading for direct grid injection biomethane can be converted to compressed natural gas (CNG) as a biofuel.

Anaerobic digesters produce biogas with a methane content of 50-60%, regardless of the initial substrates fed to the digester. The biogas produced can be processed to natural gas quality.

Different technologies are available to reach natural gas quality. Absorption technologies like water wash scrubbers or adsorption technologies like PSA are proven technologies in that field.

At the gas station biomethane is compressed and kept at 3450 PSI ready to fuel vehicles.

If biofuel demand decreases the CHP Unit of the biogas recovery system converts biogas into heat and power.
